Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about UBIC workers’ compensation: what we cover, where we write, how to get a quote, and how to file a claim. Still stuck? A real person is a call away.
What is workers’ compensation insurance?
Workers’ compensation is no-fault insurance that covers medical care and lost wages for employees who are injured or become ill because of their job. Most states require it for businesses with employees, and it also protects the employer from most injury-related lawsuits.
What kind of insurance does UBIC sell?
UBIC writes workers’ compensation insurance only. Focusing on a single line lets us do it well, with safety and loss control built into every policy and a real person answering every call.
What states does UBIC write workers’ comp in?
UBIC writes on its own paper in Utah, Nevada, and Missouri. Through a fronting program, coverage extends across a broader footprint of primary states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, plus additional incidental states. Contact us to confirm availability where you operate.
How do I get a workers’ comp quote from UBIC?
You can start a quote with our online quote tool at utahbic.com/start-my-quote, or work with an appointed independent agent who can build UBIC coverage for your business. Either way, an agent stays your point of contact for the life of the policy.
How do I find a UBIC agent?
UBIC is sold through independent appointed agents. Use the agent search at utahbic.com/find-an-agent to find an appointed agency by name, city, or zip code, or call us at (801) 889-1300 and we will point you to one near you.
How do I file a workers’ compensation claim?
Report a workplace injury as soon as it is safe to do so. You can file your state’s First Report of Injury from utahbic.com/file-a-claim (Utah, Nevada, and Missouri each have their own form), or call us at (801) 889-1300. In a medical emergency, always call 911 first.
Can I buy a policy directly from UBIC?
No. UBIC sells exclusively through independent insurance agents, and that agent stays your advocate for the life of the policy. If you do not have an agent, we will help you find an appointed one.
Is safety and loss control included, or does it cost extra?
It is built into the policy at no additional charge. Loss control is the hands-on work of preventing injuries before they happen, including on-site risk assessments, safety training, and program guidance, because keeping your team safe is the whole point.
Where is UBIC located, and what are your hours?
UBIC is headquartered at 10421 S Jordan Gateway Blvd, Suite 400, South Jordan, UT 84095. Our team is available Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm MST, at (801) 889-1300.
Where can I get the required workplace posters?
Required workers’ compensation and OSHA posters for Utah, Nevada, and Missouri are available to download from utahbic.com/posting-notices and the Policyholder Resources page.
