It started with a frustration shared by our founder, Ron Nielsen — a masonry business owner who couldn’t find a workers’ comp carrier that understood contractors. When he told fellow builders his story, they decided to do something about it.
Ron built a business plan, raised capital, and worked with insurance professionals to create a company that understood employers’ needs while competing in a tough market. Partnering with independent agents, UBIC began insuring the contractors and businesses others overlooked.
The first goal was simple: prompt, responsive customer service. Every call is taken by a person, and every question gets answered — not an impersonal call center, but dedicated employees who know the businesses we cover. Every policyholder also gets personal safety service, because a safe workplace is the whole point.
